William Washburn Champion Jr.

Mr. William Washburn Champion Jr., 67, of Albany, passed away at his residence on March 2, 2026. A celebration of his life will be held at St. John & St. Mark Episcopal Church; the time and date will be announced later.

Mr. Champion was born in Atlanta, GA on April 1, 1958, to the late William W. Champion Sr, and Carol Phillips Goldberg. Mr. Champion served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal (E-4) serving in Germany prior to the Wall coming down. He was an avid history buff and always enjoyed watching and answering questions on “Jeopardy.” Mr. Champion also enjoyed reading and music, his radio was always tuned to the Beatles channel. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lenora Frances Lamb-Champion; his son, Justin Tyler Champion of Jacksonville, FL; his stepchildren, Lee Lamb of Leesburg, GA, Eric Lamb (Dr. Jodi Pariango) of Ukiah, CA, and Lisa Lamb of Freeport, TX; one grandchild; his sisters, Pepper (Dent) Thompson of Atlanta, GA and Valerie Paige Vaughn of Gold Coast, FL; and two nieces.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Champion is also predeceased by his brother, James Flood Vaughn.

In honoring his wishes his body has been cremated.
