Susie Marie Fussell Whaley

Mrs. Susie Marie Fussell Whaley, 90, of Sylvester, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

A visitation and viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Hall & Hall Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery, in Shellman.

Born March 26, 1935, in Grayson, LA, Susie was the daughter of the late James H. Fussell and Hattie Viola Bumgardner Fussell. She was a loving and devoted homemaker who cared well for her family. She loved visiting bookstores and was an avid reader. She also loved flowers and was a member of the daylily club of Albany where she enjoyed her time traveling with members of the club. Most of all she loved her family and was Baptist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee B. Whaley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, David B. Whaley of Sylvester, and Joyce Whaley Luke and William of Albany; sister, Claudette Bruster of Dubberly, LA; brother, William Fussell of Grayson, LA; 3 grandchildren, Savannah Luke, Michael Luke and Charlene, and Jonathan Luke and Joline; 5 great-grandchildren, Nathan Luke, Ryan Luke, Addison Luke, J.D. Massey, and Joey Massey; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
