Sondra Barnes

Mrs. Sondra Ellen Barnes, 59, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 11, 2025, at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the chapel of Hall & Hall Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Mike Christian will officiate.

Born on January 9, 1966, in Albany, Sondra was the daughter of the late Jasper Bodiford and Julia Garlin Bodiford. She worked at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for several years in custodial work but was most proud to care for her beloved family at home. She cared well for her husband, children, grandchildren, and many other children that she greatly loved. She loved cooking and loved her 3 dogs. She was of the Baptist faith and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, David James Barnes, Sr.; children, David Barnes, Jr. and Michele of Albany, Jessica Barnes and Benjamin McDonald of Worth County, Richard Barnes of Leesburg, and Mary Barnes and Thurman Walker, Jr. of Albany; sisters, Patricia, Dorothy, Anne, Debbie, and Wanda; brothers, Eugene, and Wayne; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 siblings.
