Born December 10, 1925 in Wayne County to Jack and Alma Delk she was known and loved as Vi. She spent her early childhood in southeast Georgia with her parents and 7 siblings. Vi met Art Apon at a wedding in the fall of 1946, and while dancing, he informed her he was "not the marrying type." The couple were soon wed on November 14th, 1946. In 1948 they had Wayne, in 1950 Sherry, and in 1958, Bobby. The family moved to Albany in 1955, where Vi had a hair salon, and was very involved at their church, First Baptist Church of Putney. Vi loved being a hairstylist and leading Bible studies. She sewed clothes and quilts, as well as crocheting. She was an avid gardener, maintaining her home garden well into her 90’s.
Vi had 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren (so far). She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Art; her beloved three children; Wayne, Sherry, and Bobby.
She is survived by her baby sister Jackie Phillips, daughter in law Barbra (Wayne) Apon, Ron (Sherry) Coupland, Lori (Bobby) Apon, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
