John "Alan" Hollis

Mr. John "Alan" Hollis, 62, of Sylvester, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

A memorial service honoring Alan’s life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Open Door Fellowship, 3245 US Hwy 82 in Sylvester with Pastor Karen Carr officiating.

Born in LaGrange, GA on December 27, 1961, he was the beloved son of Sylvia Thompson and the late John Hollis. Alan graduated from Dougherty High School and spent his career as a mechanic, a job he performed adeptly whenever he was able. An avid outdoorsman, Alan cherished the times he could go fishing and hunting, activities that brought him great joy and peace.

Along with his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hollis; sisters, Brenda Hollis and Sylvia Hollis; and his nephew Robert Allen.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Sylvia Thompson; sister, Tracy Curry and her husband JT; nephews, Christopher Webb, Joshua Webb, James Fore and his wife Erica, and Lane Curry and his wife April; niece, Kristen Ezell; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who became like family.

Alan's love for life and his kind spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
