CPO. Roger Wade Simpson, USN (Ret.), 83, of Sylvester, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Funeral services honoring his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Dr. Gary Hadden and Rev. Neal Hager will officiate. Following the service, Mr. Simpson will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Sylvester.

Born November 18, 1941, in South Carolina, Mr. Simpson was the son of the late Eugene William Simpson and Janet Rainer Weidner. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy and retired after 21 years of faithful and honorable service. He later went to work at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany where he worked 20 years civil service and 10 years as a contractor. When he was able, he enjoyed golfing and bowling but was most passionate about working in his yard. He and his wife were members of First Baptist Church of Acree. Mr. Simpson never met a stranger and made friends wherever he would go. He took care of those he loved and was generous in his nature. A loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jackie Simpson, and his sister, Marsha Harry.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 50 years, Frances Simpson of Sylvester; children, Floyd Michael Keefe and his wife Brenda of Sylvester, and Donna Lynn Spring and her special friend Bill of Albany; 3 grandchildren, Marie Erickson and Scott, April Holwick and John, and Charlie Spring; 4 great grandchildren, Archie Erickson, Fitz Erickson, Natalie Spring, and Tobias Spring; sisters, Sylvia LaBarge, Barbie Caldwell, Jenny Parker, and Brenda Smith; sisters-in-law, Karen Williams and Calvin and Denise Chapman and Leland; special friends John C. Roberts Jr. and Doris; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends that loved him dearly.

Hall and Hall Funeral Home was given the honor to serve the Simpson Family.
