Mr. Arlyn Almond Krause, 82, of Albany, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehab. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Joseph W. Jones will officiate with military honors presented by The Army. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Monday evening at Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Born November 27, 1934, near Gary South Dakota, Mr. Krause was the son of the late Richard and Lorraine Finch Krause. He was raised on a farm near Goodwin, South Dakota and graduated from Goodwin High School. He joined The U.S. Army in 1954 and retired after 20 years of service. He received many awards while serving in the Army including, five good conduct awards, Army occupation medal Germany, Army occupation medal Korea, Republic of Vietnam, Cross of Gallantry with Palm Leaf, Air Assault Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Air Commendation Medal and others. After retiring from the Army, he worked in civil service at Fort Benning, Columbus, GA and Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, GA where he retired in November of 1996. Arlyn didn’t have any hobbies, but enjoyed deer hunting and doing small jobs with his tractor. He devoted his time with The DAV where he was honored to drive many veterans to Dublin for their health care needs. Arlyn was a member of many organizations including a Life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Life member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 2785, Albany, GA) Elks Lodge, Legion of the Moose (Albany, GA). He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner (Hasan Shrine Temple, Albany, GA). He loved to go to the Burger King in East Albany every morning and join his friends in discussion of the day and events of days gone by. These last years he could not participate due to his dementia, but still went to his friends until he moved into Evergreen Assisted Living. Mr. Krause was preceded in death by two wives, Antoni (Toni) Rosskoff of Germany and Annie Bleicher Krause of Albany, GA. After his wife, Annie died he was cared for by Susan and Joseph Bateham (step-son) and caregivers, Susan Arnett and Joyce Crestwell until he went to live at Evergreen Assisted Living. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Wanelda Lienhard, Twylla Tribitt, one infant sister and brothers, Darrold Krause, Dale Krause, Donald Krause and two infant brothers. Survivors include his step-son, Joseph (Susan) Bateham of Sylvester; two brothers, Clayton (Ila Mae) Krause of Grapevine, TX and Leroy Krause of Sumner, TX.
