nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; nbsp;Mr. Robert William ldquo;Bobrdquo; Irvin Sr., age 84, of Albany went home to be with his Lord on September 3, 2009. Funeral services celebrating his life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Mercedes Baptist Church. Mr. Irvinrsquo;s body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens with Full Military Honors. Reverends Russell Anglin and James Chambers will officiate with music provided by Wendy and Kari Chambers. Nick Cribb, Byan Paul, Nathaniel Godwin, Wesley Johnson, Jay Johnson and Alan Johnson will serve as active pallbearers. The Deacons of Mercedes Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Robert William ldquo;Bobrdquo; Irvin Sr. was born on July 21, 1925 in Richmond, VA to the late William Joseph Irving and Nannie Inez Hamlet. Mr. Irvin was a retired veteran, having served in the Air Force and Navy. He later retired from the Marine Logistics Base with 43 years of combined service. Mr. Irvin served in WWII, survived the attack of Pearl Harbor, D-Day and was a captain on the USS Hornet. He was a member of Mercedes Baptist church where he served as a Deacon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Irvin was preceded in death by two wives, Martha Irvin and Joyce Daivs Irvin; son, Robert William Irvin, Jr.; two sisters, Alice and Mildred. Survivors include his son, Michael D. Irvin and his wife, Anna of Albany; daughters, Debra P. Hoge of NC, Gloria Irvin and her husband, Larry of NC, Theresa Johnson and her husband, Lee of NC; brothers, Harold Irving and his wife, Martha, David Irving and his wife, Ruth, Joseph Irvingnbsp; all of Richmond, VA.; sisters, Ruby Dell Flemming, Geraldine Umphlet and her husband, Al all of Richmond, VA.; grandchildren, Savanna Irvin, Jay Johnson, Jessica Pilcher, Nick (Christina) Cribb, Katie (Bryan) Paul and Kelli Massey; 2 close step-grandchildren, Emily Branch and Ryan Branch and several other step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Paul and Baylie Cribb; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
