June Clark (Standley) Hollis

March 23, 1936 — January 2, 2017

Mrs. June Standley Clark Hollis, 80 of Albany, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital North Campus, surrounded by her family. Graveside services honoring her life will be held at New Park Cemetery on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Fort Gaines, GA with Rev. Anna Miller officiating. Mrs. Hollis was born March 23, 1936 in Fort Gaines, GA, to the late Walter Pete and Thelma Holloway Standley. She retired from the Federal State Inspection Service and in her early life she lived on a plantation near Leary, GA and trained bird dogs. Mrs. Hollis was a member of the Morningside United Methodist Church and a committee member of the Southern Pastoral Regional Team. She was co-owner of JJ Trucking Company along with her husband. Mrs. Hollis was known for her bird dog and Red Bone Coon dog training and showing and was a long time member of the Deep South Coon Dog Hunting Club. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Hollis. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kathy Clark of Buck Hill, PA; her daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and John Ray Stout of Bluffton, GA, her step son and daughter-in-law Tim and Darlene Hollis of Leesburg; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dudley and Quida Standley of Albany and Leonard and Lola Standley of Dawson; her sisters and brother-in-law, Margie Lee of Fort Gaines, Linda and Robert Phillips of Shorterville, AL, and Jeanne Howell of Dothan AL; her grandson James and Krystye Hollis of Leesburg; her grand-daughter Mary Hollis of Atlanta, and numerous special nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fort Gaines. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Morningside United Methodist Church, 121 S. Mock Road, Albany, GA 31705 or to your favorite animal shelter.
