Mr. James Owen Barron, Sr., 88, of Albany, passed away Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, August 6, 2015 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home in Albany. Rev. Emery Carlton Rowell will officiate with interment to follow at 3:30 p.m., at Crossroads Cemetery in Damascus. Born September 27, 1926 in Troy, AL, Mr. Barron was the son of the late Clem and Sarah Bell Grissett Barron. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and completed over twenty-six years of faithful service. Mr. Barron was a life time member of the American Legion, member of Keenan Old Timers Club and was affectionately known as “Six Fingers”. He loved everyone and was the pillar of his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Ammy Elizabeth Polk Barron; son, James O. Barron, Jr. of Albany; daughters, Betty Ann Rowell of Leesburg, Kathy Lee Bullock (Eddie) of Albany and Mary Alice Finch (James) of Centerville; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barron was preceded in death by seven siblings and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
